Privacy Policy Overview

The American Psychiatric Nurses Association (hereafter ‘APNA’) respects the privacy of its members and other visitors to its web site. APNA strongly believes that if online activities and electronic commerce are to continue to flourish, consumers must be assured that information provided online is used responsibly and appropriately. To protect online privacy, APNA has implemented the following policy.

What Information Does APNA Collect?

Most data APNA collects is used only to help APNA better serve its members. It is our general policy to collect and store only certain information that our members and visitors knowingly provide.

  • From General Users:
    APNA does not collect any personal information from users browsing its web site. Users of the public areas of the APNA’s web site browse anonymously. Only aggregate data, such as the number of hits per page, are collected. Aggregate data are used only for internal purposes and do not provide any personally identifying information.
  • From APNA Members, New Member Applicants, Affiliate Association Members and Applicants, Meeting/Committee Registrants, and related or interested entities:
    To gain access to Members Only resources and personalization features on the APNA web site, members and other users are asked to register and provide some limited information. This data is submitted voluntarily. APNA may ask users to provide their name; organization name, preferred address, phone, fax, and email address. Similar information may be submitted to APNA through membership/new member applications, and renewals, committee, workshop and Peer-to-Peer group participation, conference registration, and (complimentary) publication subscriptions.

How Does APNA Use Data Collected?

APNA uses information voluntarily submitted in the following ways:

  1. APNA Member Services and Products
    Generally, APNA uses data collected to improve its own Web site content, to respond to visitors’ interests’ and to develop new products and services.
  2. Disclosure to Third Parties
    APNA occasionally makes available its member addresses (excluding telephone and email) to trusted partners who provide products or services we feel will be of value to our members. APNA makes this member contact information available through APNA’s rental list. This limited data includes names, job titles, companies, and addresses, but does not include email addresses, phone numbers or fax numbers. Any information that a third party intends to send to APNA members/supporters must first be approved by the APNA before it is sent.
  3. Consent to Use Personal Information
    For the purposes of the Data Protection Act(s) 1984 and 1998 (as applicable), APNA or its agents must store, host, and otherwise process the information (including personal data) supplied by the User when registering for this Web site. User supplies as defined above when registering for the Web site in order to allow APNA (or its designated agents) to use the information to send the user unsolicited direct mail advertisements, promotions, and solicitations for third parties’ services. To have your user data deleted, please email membership@apna.org.
  4. Online Transactions
    It is APNA’s commitment to protect your personal information when using APNA’s website for online shopping or billing and payment options. APNA uses Authorize.net for credit card processing. This company does not retain, share, store, or use personally identifiable information for any secondary purposes.

What Privacy Issues Arise With Links to Other Sites?

This web site contains links to other web sites. APNA has no control over and is not responsible for the privacy policies or content of such sites.

Changes to Privacy Policy

APNA reserves the right to make changes to this privacy policy without advance notice. The revised policy will be posted online and is effective immediately.

Legal Disclaimer

Though we make every effort to preserve user privacy, we may need to disclose personal information when required by the law wherein we have a good-faith belief that such action is necessary to comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order, or legal process served on our web site.

What Means of Redress Are Available?

Shipping and Delivery

All confirmations from APNA will be delivered by email.

Cancellations and Refunds

All sales are final except on a case-by-case basis.  If you desire a refund, please contact APNA at 855-863-APNA (2762).
