1. Position Papers
The APNA Board of Directors approved four position papers this year:

  • Psychiatric Mental Health Advanced Practice Nurses (October 2010)
  • Electroconvulsive Therapy (January 2011)
  • Position on LACE Recommendations (February 2011)
  • Staffing Inpatient Psychiatric Units (September 2011)


2. Organizational Responses

  • Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' (CMS) proposed rule on Conditions of Participation (CoP) for Community Mental Health Centers (CMHCs)
    • Submitted to CMS in August 2011
    • Incorporated feedback from APNA's members, councils, and Board of Directors.
    • APNA members also urged to comment directly to CMS and send copy of their response to APNA
  • Inpatient Psychiatric Facility Quality Reporting Measures from CMS and the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA)
    • Submitted via NCQA’s website in August 2011
    • Incorporated feedback from APNA members, councils, and the Board of Directors
    • APNA Members also invited to submit individual comments directly via NCQA's Public Comments website.


3. Press Releases
9 Press Releases Issued since January 2011. Data for each release is cumulative from date of release to 9/15/11. Online impressions measure how many times the press release link was seen on a website or via a newsfeed. Interactions include printing, forwarding, downloading a PDF version, clicking on a link or interacting with embedded Web site.
