New APNA Online Community: Health IT and Informatics Workgroup
If you have recently visited the APNA Member Bridge, chances are you, too, would have noticed a variety of technology-focused discussion threads, posts, and member blogs on topics such as electronic health records, social media, virtual environments, mobile computing, smart phone Apps, and use of other innovative health information technologies (HIT) by psychiatric nurses. In response to the growing interests in these topics among APNA members, the APNA Administrative Council is pleased to announce that it will launch another exciting addition to the burgeoning online communities on the Member Bridge through its newly formed Health IT and Informatics Workgroup (HIT-IWG).
Debuting in April 2012, the HIT-IWG’s online community will serve as a networking and knowledge-exchange discussion group for members who share common interests in promoting informatics competencies and the integration of HIT in the contemporary practice of PMHN. As a member-driven online forum, the HIT-IWG hopes to hear from APNA members who are interested in sharing ideas and best practices on “how to” effectively blend the ever-evolving specialty of nursing-health informatics with PMHN and harness the limitless potentials of information technology to further advance PMHN. APNA Member, R. John Repique, MS, RN, NEA-BC, will kick-off the online discussions during the first week of April.
