Award for Excellence in Practice - RN


The APNA Award for Excellence in Practice - RN-PMH recognizes an APNA RN-PMH who provides or promotes exemplary psychiatric-mental health nursing practice to patients, families and populations. The individual must have been a member of APNA for at least two years.


  1. An APNA RN-PMH who demonstrates effective, collaborative nursing practice toward the achievement of optimal clinical outcomes for patients, families and populations.
  2. Shows evidence of promoting the psychiatric-mental health nursing specialty through patient and public advocacy.
  3. Shows evidence of mentorship and supervision of other nurses.
  4. Shows evidence of continuously improving his/her skills and knowledge base through a variety of self-enhancement activities.

Email with your nomination for more information and to access the nomination form. Each nomination should include two letters of recommendation of no more than 500 words each (one from the nominator and one from a reference, each submitted via the online nomination form). Each letter should provide specific examples of how the nominee meets the above criteria.
