APNA Nebraska Chapter Fall Get-Together

Purpose Statement: This program is designed to describe ways in which nurses can provide balanced care of patients who are potentially aggressive.
Participants will be able to:

  • Balance compassion with “being smart” in situations involving potentially aggressive patient.
  • Build on concepts taught about recovery and crisis prevention in clinical situations.
  • Identify areas where law enforcement and clinical staff may work together in providing optimum care of mentally ill and potentially dangerous patients.

Target Audience: Designed for Nurses, LMHP, Social Workers and other health care professionals.

Nurses: 1.0 contact hour can be earned for this presentation.  The American Psychiatric Nurses Association is the provider of CEU’s
Mental Health Counselors, Social Workers, and other health care professionals:  These education credits are based on 60 minutes of classroom instruction for each offering.  Participants may use these for their professional continuing education hours and toward re-licensure if so approved within the standards and guidelines of their discipline.

The speaker and planners of this event have no conflict of interest to disclose.
In order to obtain contact hours or CEUs for a continuing education event, participants are expected to attend the entire event and return a completed evaluation form.

The American Psychiatric Nurses Association is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.

What's New in Psychiatric Pharmacology?

Location: Legends Patio Grill and Bar, 6910 N. 102nd Circle, Omaha, NE

This program is designed as a learning opportunity related to an expansion on the Principles of Mental Health Recovery for practice integration.

Participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the new psychiatric medications available for the management of selected diagnoses.
  • Identify important patient monitoring parameters and interventions associated with these medications.
  • Discuss safe practices for using natural medicines in the management of mental health issues.
