American Psychiatric Nurses Association Annual Conference Proposal

Dear [Insert Name]:

I am writing to request approval to attend the American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA) Annual Conference, October 19-22, 2016, in Hartford, Connecticut. The APNA Annual Conference offers an educational program specifically for psychiatric-mental health nurses, featuring the latest advances in evidenced based practice, education, research and administration across settings and topics.

APNA Annual Conference attendees have the opportunity to earn up to 28+ continuing education (CE) contact hours on-site. Recordings of sessions are also made available online, enabling attendees to earn an additional 100+ contact hours after the conference. This maximizes my opportunities for learning and adds incredible value and flexibility to the full conference registration fee.

By attending the APNA Annual Conference, I’ll have access to more than 300 sessions and poster presentations exploring an array of current trends and issues of importance to psychiatric-mental health nursing, in addition to numerous opportunities to connect with more than 1,600 members of our professional community and experts in the field. 99.6% of last year’s attendees said that the conference content increased their knowledge, skills, and/or judgment related to their practice of psychiatric nursing. Upon my return, I will share this new information with our organization and apply it personally to my work in order to improve outcomes.
