Report of the President Annual Meeting May 15, 2011
The Board has met a total of 10 times in 2010 and 4 times in 2011 by phone conference. Membership in the chapter as of May 3, 2011 is 278. The Chapter funds as of 12/31/10 are: $9640.52. Click here to download the financial report.
During this past year APNA NJ Chapter has participated in the Collaboration of Nursing Interest Groups hosted by the NJ State Nurses’ Association on a quarterly basis and has joined the Interagency Council on Information Resources in Nursing thanks to a donation from Dr. Brenda Marshall.
Our last annual meeting was held in Edison NJ on April 25, 2010. The speaker was Patricia Barnett, JD, RN – CEO of the NJSNA. 1.0 contact hour was awarded.
Our 2nd Annual Clinical & Leadership Conference was held in Cranbury NJ on October 28, 2010. Vicki Lachman, PhD, RN was the Keynote presenter on Moral Courage in Nursing. A pre-conference was hosted by Avant Healthcare on Early Treatment Response for Patients with Schizophrenia. 3.2 contact hours were awarded. All evaluations were Excellent and Good.
The APNA NJ Chapter supported a joint nursing celebration at the 2011 New Jersey Nursing Convention with a donation of $200. Additionally, in recognition of Psychiatric Nurses, APNA NJ has agreed to donate 2 chairs ($400) to the Bergen Regional Medical Center Foundation for their chapel renovation project. BRMC is the largest hospital in NJ and is a county hospital which is the largest provider of acute psychiatric care in Northern NJ.
APNA NJ Chapter has had table displays at Englewood Hospital Medical Center. The Bergen Regional Medical Center’s Psychiatric Nursing Update 2011 in Saddle Brook NJ, and at the BRMC Vendor Fair in Paramus.
The following have completed their term on the Chapter Board and are thanked for their service: Andretta Randall and Rachel Filzer.
Chapter elections were completed on April 30 and the results include:
Re-election of Barbara Reynolds Caldwell, RN and the election of Paula Tedesco and Sharon Katz, both APNs in our Chapter. We look forward to an exciting upcoming year.
At the meeting the resignation of Debra Lemasters from position of secretary was received. Mrs. Lemasters was thanked for her diligent work for our Chapter.
A resolution was placed to fill the open Board position with Andretta C. Randall. Vote taken and it was unanimous to fill the position vacated by Mrs. Lemasters with Ms. Andretta Randall.
