To help inform the strategic planning process, the Board of Directors reached out to the APNA Janssen Scholars, graduate and undergraduate students who were awarded scholarships to the Annual Conference. The Board invited them to participate in a collaborative project exploring four issues identified by the APNA membership as priorities: quality indicators, suicide prevention, seclusion and restraint, and workplace violence. The Scholars formed four workgroups, each focusing on one of these issues and supported by an advisor appointed by the Board. Each group conducted an environmental scan and submitted a report sharing their findings. Click on the links below to view these reports.
The workgroups employed the APNA knowledge-based decision making process, which utilizes the following three questions:
What do we know about the current environment related to (topic) and psychiatric nursing? (What's going on out there?)
What do we know about PMH nurses' and stakeholder’s needs, wants and preferences related to (topic)?
What are some of the ethical implications related to (topic)?
