Member Profile: Michelle Laraia, PhD, PMHNP
Nationally there has been an increasing focus on integrated care, yet there is no widely recognized set of competencies for psychiatric mental health providers and primary care providers on this approach. APNA member Michelle Laraia, PhD, PMHNP, working as a consultant for the Annapolis Coalition on the Behavioral Health Workforce, is part of a core team of consultants who are managing an important Center for Integrated Health Solutions initiative which aims to rectify this gap. Chapter News: Fostering a Global Network
In May 2012, when Thelma McKenzie, principal nursing officer for the Bahamas Public Hospitals Authority, Division of Behavioral Health, posted on the APNA Member Bridge looking for a psychiatric hospital in South Florida to tour and visit, APNA Member and APNA Florida Chapter Board Member-at-Large John Repique, MS, RN, NEA-BC, Vice-President/Chief Administrative Officer & Chief Nursing Officer for the Jackson Mental Health Hospital (JMHH) in Miami, FL responded to the post and extended the invitation to host.
