30 Nursing Students Awarded 2012 APNA Janssen Student Scholarships by the American Psychiatric Nurses Association
15 graduate and 15 undergraduate nursing students have been awarded the APNA Janssen Student Scholarship, which includes complimentary registration, travel and lodging to attend the APNA 26th Annual Conference in Pittsburgh, PA, plus a one year complimentary membership in the APNA.

APNA Issues Recommendations for Aligning Advanced Practice Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing With Consensus Model for APRN Regulation
The American Psychiatric Nurses Association issues a series of recommendations for changes needed to position psychiatric-mental health nursing to be in compliance with the new Consensus Model for Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Regulation. The recommendations promote a uniform approach for entry to practice so that future psychiatric-mental health advanced practice nurses will have the full scope of practice to address mental health and psychiatric needs across the lifespan.

American Psychiatric Nurses Association Supports Electroconvulsive Therapy as an Effective and Proven Treatment
The American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA) Board of Directors issues a position statement supporting Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT) as an effective and proven treatment for severe depression. APNA recommends that the Food and Drug Administration classify appropriately ECT devices to ensure that electroconvulsive therapy remains accessible to patients.
