Awards & Recognition

APNA offers awards, recognition, grants, and scholarships each year to practicing, teaching, and aspiring psychiatric-mental health nurses.

 

APNA Annual Awards

The APNA Annual Awards recognize APNA members who demonstrate excellence in psychiatric-mental health nursing practice, education, research, leadership, community efforts, and more.

Past APNA Annual Awards Recipients
Call for nominations opens in October with a deadline in January. Recipients are generally announced in the spring.


APNA Board of Directors Student Scholarship

Through this program, the APNA Board of Directors provides graduate and undergraduate students interested in psychiatric-mental health nursing with registration, travel and lodging expenses to attend the APNA Annual Conference, one year complimentary membership in the APNA, and numerous opportunities for mentorship and networking.

Call for applications opens in February with a deadline in April. Recipients are generally announced in June.


APNA Memorial Scholarship

The APNA Memorial Scholarship Program, funded by donations to the APNA Memorial Fund, enables selected APNA members to attend – at no cost – the APNA Annual Conference. The criteria for selection will vary from year to year.

Call for applications opens in late March with a deadline in May. Recipients will be announced in June.


APNA Research Grants

The APNA Research Grants program provides funding to seed new investigators as they begin their scholarly careers. Proposals funded may fall within two categories: (1) Research studies to generate new knowledge to advance psychiatric-mental health nursing and (2) Evidence-based practice change or quality improvement projects to apply evidence to practice.

Call for proposals opens in March with a deadline in May. Recipients are generally notified in June and funding commences in July.
