Top Tips

  • Know yourself… build in time for questions and communication with education staff before the July 28 deadline!
  • Carefully review the copyright and permissions information to ensure you don’t violate copyright laws.
  • Remember your materials are more than a PowerPoint – each item you submit helps you craft a presentation that delivers high quality nursing professional development.

Learning Outcome & Key Takeaways

Measurable Learning Outcome
What you enter in this field is what learners will use to evaluate your session and will be listed on the evaluation site.

  • Outcome addresses: Select nursing professional development, patient outcomes, or other.
  • Learning outcome for evaluation: Automatically populated with the learning outcome in your abstract. You can change or edit it, but remember that your learning outcome should:

    • Start with a verb (capitalized), and end with a period.
Example: Identify two gaps within the working relationship between acute care hospitals and law enforcement.
    • Be achievable and measurable. We recommend using Bloom’s Taxonomy action verbs

Key Takeaways
These takeaways help you and learner connect the presentation content to the measurable learning outcome. List 1-2 key points that your content will address to help learners achieve the learning outcome for your session.

Example: If your session topic is the role of a PMH Nurse in health promotion, the learning outcome and takeaways might look like the following:

Measurable Learning Outcome (What should the learner(s) know, show, and/or be able to do at the end of the activity?):
The learner will be able to Describe 2 ways that a PMH Nurse promotes healing.

Key Takeaways: List 1-2 key points that your content will address to help learners achieve the learning outcome for your session.
