As the Secretary for the APNA Board of Directors, I am pleased to provide you with this annual update on our membership and communications during the past year.
The APNA Secretary is responsible for corporate records and taking minutes during official meetings of the APNA Board of Directors. During the past year, the APNA Board of Directors conducted meetings on October 3, 2023; November 14, 2023; December 12, 2023; January 9, 2024; February 22-23, 2024; March 12, 2024; April 9, 2024; May 14, 2024; June 5-6, 2024; July 9, 2024; August 13, 2024; and September 10, 2024.
I’m happy to report that membership continues to grow. Our current membership is up 2% over last year and we gain approximately 14 new members each day. Our renewal rate is above the industry average at 83% and the average tenure of a member is around 6 years.
APNA volunteers contributed their leadership and expertise to a host of new and updated resources released this year, including:
- Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Position Paper and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion are Central to Any Solution to Address Health Disparities and Critical to Advancing Whole Health Issue Brief
- Addressing Workplace Violence in Today’s Environment Issue Statement
- APRNs Prescribing Buprenorphine and other Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) Position Paper
- ECT Treatment Considerations Checklist
- Care of Sexual Gender Minority Populations Info & Resources
Your resource for online nursing continuing professional development, the APNA eLearning Center, continues to provide high quality evidence-based education addressing topics relevant to RN and APRN practice. 498 sessions are available to access online, with 463 total contact hours. APNA has offered more than 70 on-demand educational sessions with contact hours for free to members. Likewise, the conversations continue on Member Bridge, your destination for member connection and collaboration has more than 140,000 resources and posts shared by members. Our community serves as an always growing and evolving source for the collective wisdom, experiences, and concerns shared by psychiatric-mental health nurses.
From an operational perspective, it has also been a big year for APNA. Many of the APNA Policies and Procedures which guide the nuts and bolts of how the organization runs were updated this year. APNA also launched a new membership system, which streamlines and simplifies the join and renewal processes for members. Analytics already show increased engagement in this new system!
Thank you for all you do and for being a member of your association of professionals. Looking at our accomplishments this year, I feel proud to be in the company of such exceptional nurses devoted to our profession.
Respectfully submitted,
Constance Noll
Secretary
