APNA California Chapter
Ann M. Wilkinson Nurse Psychotherapist Award
Ann Wilkinson was a nurse psychotherapist, former president of the APNA California Chapter, and a dedicated advocate for psychiatric nursing over many years. She was a mentor to many, and she brought thoughtful awareness and insight to her clients. After her passing, the Ann Wilkinson Award was set up by her good friends and fellow California nurses, as well as her family to honor her commitment to the role of the nurse psychotherapist.
Please consider a donation to this award so that we can continue to honor Ann Wilkinson, to support our members that are in private practice, and to support the advancement of nurse psychotherapy. As a 501(c)3 organization, donations are tax deductible.
About the Chapter
The APNA California Chapter is a statewide organization dedicated to serving the professional needs of APNA members throughout California. The chapter engages in a wide range of activities which include: offering continuing education programs; letter-writing and lobbying to influence legislative issues that affect psychiatric/mental health nursing; forming strategic alliances with related organizations in the health-care field; leadership training; and facilitating opportunities for professionals in our field to network with one another.
APNA members who reside in California automatically become a member of the chapter. If you are interested in joining APNA or renewing your membership, please see the Membership tab on APNA’s home page for more information about the application process and dues.
Bright Spot: NAMI California
NAMI California not only led the charge to get July recognized as Bebe Moore Campbell National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month in the state of California, but had 74 of the 80 Assembly members cosign onto the resolution. Six Assembly members also spoke compellingly in support of the resolution and the need for mental health services in diverse communities.
