User Guide: Navigating APNA Member Bridge

The American Psychiatric Nurses Association (APNA) is excited to welcome you to your updated Member Bridge platform, an exclusive benefit of your APNA membership. This community is designed to help you connect, collaborate, and engage with fellow psychiatric-mental health nurses.

This how-to guide will walk you through navigating APNA Member Bridge, key features, and show you how to stay connected—whether you’re on your desktop or mobile device. If you need help, please do not hesitate to reach out to inform@apna.org or 855-863-2762.

What is Member Bridge?

Member Bridge is your APNA members-only online community where you can:

  • Ask questions and share expertise
  • Access exclusive resources and tools
  • Connect with peers and leaders nationwide

This is your safe space to reach out to trusted colleagues! Log in regularly, add notifications, and make the most of your APNA membership by joining conversations that shape PMH nursing in real-time.


Get Started Navigating APNA Member Bridge

Good news! All of your previous settings have been saved. You do not need to start over.

 

1. Log In

Go to https://community.apna.org and log in using your APNA username and password. If you cannot remember your password, click “Reset Password,” and you will receive an email with a link to reset your password.

2. Explore Your Dashboard

Your dashboard provides a personalized overview of your communities, events, and recent activity. It’s designed to feel familiar – similar to your favorite social platforms.

3. Update Your Profile as Needed
  • Click your profile photo (top right) → Profile
  • Upload or update your photo, title, bio, and areas of interest
  • Check your visibility and communication preferences
    • Click ‘My Account’ on your profile page
    • Change your privacy settings to decide who can see your information or send you messages.
    • Remember, your settings have been saved, so if you would like them to stay the same, you do not need to do anything!

4. Join and Engage in Communities 
  • Go to Communities > My Communities
  • Join open communities that interest you and start or reply to discussion threads

 

5. Access Resources
  • Navigate to the Library within each community
  • Download shared files, meeting minutes, and documents
  • Upload your own resources or comment on others.

 

6. Manage Email Notifications
  • Click your profile photo > Settings > Email Preferences
  • Adjust how often you receive community digests, alerts, and updates

Like things how they are? Don’t worry! Your previous settings have carried over automatically.


Tips for Success Navigating APNA Member Bridge

  • Use it like your social media! React to posts, comment, and tag others in discussions
  • Use @mentions to pull someone into a discussion
  • Bookmark or follow conversations you want to revisit
  • Use Private Messaging to connect directly with members

Stay connected on the go with the Connected Community app.

How to Download
  1. Visit the Apple App Store or Google Play Store
  2. Search for Connected Community
  3. Download and open the app
  4. When prompted, enter the domain:
    community.apna.org
  5. Log in with your APNA credentials

Once logged in, you can browse discussions and manage notifications directly from your phone.

Pro Tip: For more complete access, you can also create a desktop or mobile shortcut:

  • On desktop: Drag the lock icon or tab from the browser address bar onto your desktop
  • On mobile: Use the browser menu to select “Add to Home Screen”
