About the GeneSight® Test
The GeneSight Psychotropic Test from Myriad Genetics is the category-leading pharmacogenomic test for 62 medications commonly prescribed for depression, anxiety, ADHD, and other psychiatric conditions. The GeneSight Test can help inform clinicians about how a patient’s genes may impact how they metabolize and/or respond to certain psychiatric medications. It is designed to provide information that may help reduce the trial-and-error process that often takes place when patients are prescribed certain mental health medications. As a member of APNA, the field medical affairs team at Neurocrine Biosciences is pleased to provide educational resources to assist in your clinical assessment of drug-induced abnormal movements. These abnormal movements may be observed in patients in both inpatient and outpatient psych settings. Recognition and appropriate differentiation of drug-induced movement disorders (DIMDs), including akathisia, drug-induced parkinsonism (DIP), dystonia, and tardive dyskinesia (TD) are imperative to appropriate treatment since improper treatment may make DIMDs worse.

Below are links to several literature-supported resources that may assist in developing your assessment skills. If you have additional questions or seek additional information, please reach out to your respective Clinical Practice Liaison.
