“I feel energized by the enthusiasm of other attendees”

December 2022

Paula Bolton, MS, CNP, ANP-BC, co-presented ‘Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation: Nursing’s Role in the Clinical Treatment Arena’ and presented ‘Ketamine Treatment Strategies – 4 years of Experience in a Clinical Setting’ at October’s APNA Annual Conference. Recordings of her sessions will be available in the APNA eLearning Center.

The Rewards of Presenting

I am always excited to meet with nurses from across the country and beyond to discuss new innovations and implementation of evidence-based practices. This year was special because there was an opportunity for nurses to attend in person AND virtually. One thing I enjoy most about presenting is the interaction I can have with people in the audience. Presenting at this conference provides an opportunity for idea sharing and networking. I feel energized by the enthusiasm of other attendees.”

A Story Worth Sharing

“The work we are doing in neurotherapeutics and the impact that nurses have on these treatments is a story worth telling. I always try to involve nurses involved in the direct care of our patients present alongside me. It’s an opportunity to network and to gain experience sharing their work with others.”

The Unique Nurse Role

“One presentation covered the unique contributions nurses make in the care of patients receiving transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and one our experience running a Ketamine Service. Both treatment modalities are relatively new, and nurses play a large role in managing these types of services and working directly with patients receiving these treatments. All nurses need to know about neurotherapeutics, new treatment modalities, which patients benefit the most, and how nurses contribute to patient outcomes. Nurses working in these services across the country must have the opportunity to meet and hear about best practices.”
