ANNUAL CONFERENCE KEYNOTE: How Racism, Socioeconomic Status, & Stress Affect Mental Health: And What We Can Do About It

An overview of the ways in which multiple aspects of racism combine with socioeconomic status (SES) and psychosocial stressors to affect physical and mental health. It also describes the added burden caused by the Covid-19 Pandemic and racism in the larger society for the mental health of racial/ethnic minorities. It will highlight promising interventions, at the individual and community level, that can enhance mental health and reduce the negative effect of stressors on mental health.
